Guild News December 2025

On Wednesday October 15th Guild members shared Holiday memories which were very interesting and varied.

In November Guild members listened to talks about the Turin Shroud from Tony Cunliffe and the work of Age UK by Joanne Gorton. Both talks were very interesting and informative.

The Guild Festive Fair

The Guild held its Festive Fair on Saturday November 29th. This was well supported by Guild members and friends despite the weather. There was a raffle, chocolate tombola, cake and home produce stall and a craft stall selling crafts made by Betsan and Jenni Stainton. Jill Dobson brought some residents from Wood End Nursing home who sold chocolate brownies,  homemade mincemeat and jigsaw puzzles, contributing a very welcome £79 to the total raised. Refreshments and mince pies were served. Thank you to all the Guild members who made the fair such a success. Also thank you to Pat and Lambert’s family of musicians who played festive songs and Carols while people were having their refreshments. A magnificent sum of £1268 has been raised so far.

Guild News October 2025

The Guild opened its programme for the 2025-2026 Season with their first meeting on Wednesday September 17th with Tea & Chat and (shhhhh)…….payment of Guild Subscriptions for the new Guild Year. The new syllabus was also available. The Guild welcomes all members and friends of Altrincham URC and extends a warm ‘Hello’ to all.

The second meeting was a warm and interesting outline of the invaluable work the charity Parkinson’s UK does to support people with this longstanding disease. The speaker, Bernie Fletcher, outlined the many groups available - exercise, dance and yoga and as well a specialist adviser to help with all aspects of coping with this disease and available to everyone  in Trafford, who also benefit from the regular monthly meetings at the Larkhill Centre.
